Makeover

Well, here she is!  My mom's old armoire that I rescued from her damp, old basement.  She came back to Florida and sat in my garage for a bit, then moved to a spare room and became a hold it all for crafts.  Five years later I decided that she needed a makover.  I found this blog that told about this product.  I love the outcome.  I had to do a little repair work on her before painting, such as using a wood filler to fill in the wood that was lifting on top of her and various other places.  The CC directions said to squish, squash the paint hapharzardly.  That's what I did.  On the basecoat I used pumpkin, then used a chipping cream, then peppercorn, sanded, toner and satin poly.  I love her!!  My friend Grace said that her husband is an excellent artist, so he said that he will paint the flowers onto her front, taken from the original. 

Sunday Scripture

Went to church today and as always I learn!  Today was out of Acts 20 Leadership Conference at Miletus!  Can you imagine Pastor speaking to us and teaching us like we are all leaders?  Well, he did!  Leaders are meant to serve, not sit.  Jesus served when HE was here, not have others serve HIM.  The bible teaches us to serve the Lord with humility Acts 20:19.  We can do this at home, the workplace, as a church member, as a spouse, to our children.  WOW!  Did you know that it is better to be weaker?  When we are weak HE is stronger!  As we serv,e the Lord breaks selfishness!  A whole lot to think about this week.....

December Daily 2010 Digital Layered Templates & Overlays

I am really tempted to try this. I did it last year but in hybrid form and I really love it. Don't know if I can handle it this year or not yet. The goal is to get as much prep work done BEFORE December, so that during the really busy days of the season you are just taking pictures, printing them and sticking them into your album. I would like to try all digital although I love the feel and textures of the hybrid album.

We went to the Gungor concert while in NC and I have to say that they were truly incredible.  They put on an amazing worship concert.  I fell in love with this song, "Beautiful Things"  Give a listen and let me know what you think!  Turn mine off at the bottom right in order to hear this.

We are back home from visiting Chick 2 and family.  We had an incredible time!  Look at our new little grandson, is he precious or what??

Fiesta Ware!  I bought 9 plates at an antique shop in Wilmington, NC for $25.  Not too shabby!

Cottage Crafts - This is where I purchased my treasures at.  Love this place!  This used to be a school for African Americans back when segregation was going on.  It once was just a one room school house and the name on the top of the building says "Browntown."  How sad that all that went on!  I have found so many treasures here since Chick 2 and her family moved to this town. 

Traveling North

We are headed tomorrow to North Carolina to visit Chick 2 and family!  Gonna get to see that sweet little new baby boy plus the other boys too.  So happy!  See you next week!

You betcha!  Check out what I purchased today at Publix.  Each week they have BOGO deals that are awesome.  I spent$46.78 and saved $39.54!  Not my best deal since couponing, but I'll take it!  I want to get where I only spend cents and saves dollars like sooo many people seem to do in the coupon world.  This site and this one are my go to sites to check out the local deals.  They literally spoon feed you on the
deals, how to pair an item up with a manufacture coupon and a Publix coupon.  Did you know that you can use two manufacture coupons and two Publix coupons on a BOGO?  Neither did I till I ran into the hundreds of people who coupon and saves hundreds even thousands each year.  This is a cool site to visit to print out your coupons.

Family History

This is what I will be doing for the next few weeks, I am super excited about this class and also a little disappointed as I do not have wedding photos of my parents, grandparents or even great grandparents.  I will have to come up with regular photos or just maybe even journal about it.  That is why we have to keep our history alive!  Take lots of photos, record our memories so that we will be able to pass this on to our children.

Sunday Scripture

I love this painting by Norman Rockwell.  It reminds me of South St. Louis, the brick houses, the store fronts beside the houses, the rooms for rent above the store fronts.  I love how the family is walking to church in their Sunday best.  How cute is that?  We also went to church today, but we did not walk there.  Our message today was The Kingdom of God from Acts 19.  The Kingdom of God is not a democracy, it is a theocracy (our King rules).  We have to TRUST Him!  We may not always understand but He is Sovereign and we have to trust.  His principles are permanent and never change.  If you want to check out our church go here.  Happy Sunday all!

Baby Boy Nisly was born yesterday Oct 8 at home!  Not because Chick 2 couldn't make it to the hospital but because that's what they chose to do with a midwife and in a large tub.  Baby Nisly weighed in at 9 lbs 4 oz and 22 inches long.  Looks just like his big brother T.  Just look at him, can he get any cuter?  Can't wait to see him and squeeze on him a little. 

Going to the chapel and we're goin get married.....

Traveled last weekend to Jacksonville, Fl for a wedding.   It has to be one of the most beautiful weddings that I have ever seen! It ranks right up there with a Mexican wedding.  So glad that we got to go see Lindsay and Matt take their vows, and celebrate with them like no other wedding celebration.

Grace and I went to the mall today to look for shoes for the wedding I am going to soon.  I had a pair in mind that I had seen a few weeks ago.  Good thing I waited cause they were on sale for $32, Grace gave me her coupon for $10 off if I used a JCP credit card.  I do not have one so Grace used hers.  I got the shoes for $21 and change!!!  Thanks so much Grace!!  What do you think?

I am taking a class over at www.jessicasprague.com on how to make a blog.  Well, you know me, totally not technology minded.  So it has taken me awhile, a few naughty words, and hair pulling but I think I am on my way, at least more than I was last week!  Deep breaths!
